چکیده
The estimate of stellar metallicities (Z*) high-z galaxies are paramount importance in order to understand the complexity dust effects and reciprocal interrelations among mass, attenuation, age, metallicity. Benefiting from uniquely deep FUV spectra >500 star-forming at redshifts 2<z<5 extracted VANDELS survey stacked bins mass (M*) UV continuum slope (beta), we their Z* photospheric absorption features 1501 1719 Angstrom, which calibrated with Starburst99 models largely unaffected by dust, IMF, nebular or interstellar absorption. Comparing them photometric based spectral slopes range 1250-1750 find that metallicity increases ~0.5 dex beta ~ -2 -1 (1 < A(1600) 3.2), a dependence holds fixed absolute luminosity M(UV) up 10^(9.65) Msun. As result, is fundamental ingredient for properly rescaling corrections on M*. Using same features, analyze mass-metallicity relation (MZR) it consistent previous estimation global fit spectra. Similarly, do not significant evolution between z=2 z=3.5. Finally, our MZR Z*-beta agreement predictions well-studied semi-analytic galaxy formation (SAM), while some tensions observations remain as normalization. exploitation large volume surveys next-generation telescopes physical characterization first billion years Universe.

the relationship between learners critical thinking ability and their performance in the reading sections of the tofel and ielts test
the study reflected in this thesis aims at finding out relationships between critical thinking (ct), and the reading sections of tofel and ielts tests. the study tries to find any relationships between the ct ability of students and their performance on reading tests of tofel and academic ielts. however, no research has ever been conducted to investigate the relationship between ct and the read...
15 صفحه اولThe Universal Stellar Mass–stellar Metallicity Relation for Dwarf Galaxies
We present spectroscopic metallicities of individual stars in seven gas-rich dwarf irregular galaxies (dIrrs), and we show that dIrrs obey the same mass–metallicity relation as the dwarf spheroidal (dSph) satellites of both the Milky Way and M31: Z∗ ∝ M 0.30±0.02 ∗ . The uniformity of the relation is in contradiction to previous estimates of metallicity based on photometry. This relationship is...
متن کاملGas metallicity diagnostics in star-forming galaxies
Generally the gas metallicity in distant galaxies can only be inferred by using a few prominent emission lines. Various theoretical models have been used to predict the relationship between emission line fluxes and metallicity, suggesting that some line ratios can be used as diagnostics of the gas metallicity in galaxies. However, accurate empirical calibrations of these emission line flux rati...
